Welcome to our Online Competition!

We hope that you will be inspired to experiment, practise, record and share your playing.....

You are invited to film yourself playing 5 minutes of your favourite unaccompanied flute music and send it to us electronically:

There are 3 categories to suit all ages and levels of experience
Prizes include £50 Just Flutes vouchers and online performance opportunities
All entrants will receive feed-back on their performance

The competition will culminate on June 25th in a live Zoom broadcast open to all participants, featuring winners and runners-up, followed by a short seminar/discussion on unaccompanied playing led by Wissam and Nicki.

The broadcast will be livestreamed on YouTube and/or Facebook.

The small print

REPERTOIRE: You are invited to film yourself playing a free choice of unaccompanied flute music. This can be absolutely anything, but it MUST be composed for solo flute - standard repertoire, including studies, improvisations and folk/world music.....whatever inspires you to play, create and perform.

TIME LIMIT: 5 mins music. This may be multiple movements, contrasting pieces or whatever you like to be submitted in one take.

INTRODUCTION: Please announce your name, category you are entering (A B or C - see below) composer/s and piece/s before you play - this is not part of your 5 minutes.

RECORDING: Quality of performance is more important that the quality of recording equipment .

TO ENTER: please film your performance on a mobile phone or any other device and upload to a video-sharing platform of your choice – please specify your preferred platform on the registration form below (WhatsApp, YouTube, Wetransfer etc).

CATEGORIES: There will be three categories:

A) 18 and under (please specify age)

B)18 - 108 flautists who have studied or are studying music at conservatory level

C)18 - 108 flautists who have not studied at a conservatory, older beginners and those who play for a hobby etc.

Winners and runners up will be invited to perform from their homes via Zoom on a live broadcast on YouTube following a short discussion about performing unaccompanied with Wissam and Nicki.

All competitors will receive written feedback.

(NB if you are not happy to perform Live online that is perfectly acceptable and will not affect your chances of winning!)

The competition is now closed - we are delighted to have a wonderful range of ages abilities and nationalities and hope that you will join us on Jun 25th for our final performance and seminar.

All entrants will be able to join the zoom concert and discussion, which will be open to the General Public on YouTube. Donations will be invited for a choice of two musical charities:
